PROJECT OVERVIEW

The Runholder is an upscale multi-functional facility in Martinborough that serves as home to Te Kairanga Wine, Martinborough Vineyard, and Lighthouse Gin Distillery. Constructed by Holmes Construction, this 1100m² building houses a restaurant, tasting room, private dining room, gin distillery, and commercial kitchen, with a 650m² barrel hall below that stores over 1300 barrels. Designed by Nott Architects to reflect the local rural landscape and history, The Runholder derives its name from the land's heritage as a sheep run and aims to be Martinborough's largest cellar door restaurant featuring locally sourced produce. Alongside Holmes Construction, there were a number of other contributors to the project, including Nott Architects and RoofLogic, who installed their Ultratherm MSR system throughout the building.

As the chosen Height Safety partners for Te Kairanga Winery, Alta Safety were tasked with providing safe access to the Te Kairanga roof and guttering for general maintenance and cleaning. Top of mind for this project was creating a design that did not stand out and detract from the beautiful aesthetic of the building, while also providing a comprehensive fall arrest system, designed to full compliance with ASNZS safety standards. Our design included a number of fall arrest anchors and a mounted ladder bracket, allowing safe and secure ladder access only when required, vs. a more permanent solution.
